Close Encounters
02:41
|

Have you ever felt like you're a little weird like
The place that you belong is a billion miles from here like
Something is wrong and you're missing all the signs like
A strange sense of longing while looking at the sky?
I'll tell you why. I'll tell you why.
The truth ain't out there
Its right here right now.
The little men from outer space
don't care about you anyhow.
The men in black don't have your back
And we will never make contact
The truth ain't out there.
Have you ever thought man I gotta get away like
The Earth was nice to visit but I never planned to stay.
If I hold my thumb out long enough I'm sure to get a ride
But those lights up in the sky keep on passing me by.
Passing me by.
The truth ain't out there
Its right here right now.
The little men from outer space
don't care about you anyhow.
The men in black don't have your back
And we will never make contact
The truth ain't out there.
You might not be leaving, but its not worth grieving
There's still lots to see on the ground.
The thing that your missing is not really missing
What's not lost can never be found.
The urge keeps on pulling you, its so insatiable
How is this feeling allowed?
But from what I have heard, when you're outside the Earth
And you scream it does not make a sound. A sound. A SOUND.
Because the truth ain't out there
Its right here right now.
The little men from outer space
don't care about you anyhow.
The men in black don't have your back
And we will never make contact
The truth ain't out there.

The Waiting Game
02:39
|
|||
Five hundred million years ago rocks landed in the sea.
They came here from a far off land we call Octopodes.
They carried deep inside of them some chunks of frozen ice
Which in turn held some specimens that you might recognize.
And when it hit the ocean floor the ice melted away
and out crawled a creature that we all know today.
Oh Octopi
You came here from the sky
Oh Octopi
You'll rule the Earth when we all die
The dinosaurs they came and went
The humans said, "Yes please."
They spread themselves around the world
And built some factories.
The way that things are going
Our race doesn't have much time,
But for our multi-legged friends
that plan works out just fine.
No matter who's ruling the world, to them its all the same.
They hang out down beneath the waves and play the waiting game.
Oh Octopi
You came here from the sky
Oh Octopi
You'll rule the Earth when we all die
Oh Octopi
You came here from the sky
Oh Octopi
You'll rule the Earth when we all die
As the years go on and on the ocean levels rise.
Disasters strike us one by one and no one's left alive.
They'll start to creep out from the deep and crawl over our bones.
They'll tear down all our shopping malls and make themselves at home.
The memory of humanity will slowly fade away.
And they'll build a new society on top of all our graves.
Oh Octopi
You came here from the sky
Oh Octopi
You'll rule the Earth when we all die

Song for an Orca
03:51
|
|||
Oh Mother
Take your time
We're all grieving
But it's yours to decide
When to let go
When to move on
When to stop hoping
That your baby ain't gone
Let's just agree
on one thing
No one's in charge
Of this hellish machine
I'm sorry you got caught in the blast
I swear we didn't mean to do that
The life we cling so dearly to
Is just a manifestation of you
Oh Mother
Let me cry
Let me feel joyous
Just don't tell me I've died
I just want to scream
I want you to hear me
Hear my lungs laughing
While I fade into life
I can't say the pain won't last
But soon this will all be in the past
We're all just tied up in the flow
And can't control the way that we go
Oh Mother
You're not alone
Oh Mother
You're not alone
Oh Mother
You're not alone
Oh Mother we are not the first
And we won't be the last I'm sure
That every twilight has it's dusk
And all the cars will turn to rust
And every play has one last bow
And every burger had a cow
And all my shoes will loose their souls
And every sweater gets a hole
Every heart will stop it's ache
And every chain that binds will break
Every lyric that I sing
Will ring and ring and ring and ring.
Oh Mother
Take your time
We're all grieving
But it's yours to decide

Herse Song
02:22
|
|||
Don't ever laugh as a Herse goes by
For you might be the next to die.
They'll dress you up in your fancy clothes
And glue both of your eyelids closed.
They'll put you in a wooden box
And stick you in the ground to rot.
Once it starts to feel like home
You'll notice that you're not alone.
The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out.
They'll treat your body like a house.
In your mouth and past your teeth
They'll find your tongue and start to eat.
A millipede with sixty legs chews its way inside your head.
The maggots feasting on your eyes burst into a swarm of flies.
Once they've finished with your mouth they'll wiggle their way further south.
They'll eat your lungs, they'll eat your spleen and every organ in between.
The worms crawl out, the worms crawl in.
You'll feel them writhe beneath your skin.
You'd smell your body decompose, if only you still had a nose.
You'd see your stomach putrefy, had they not eaten both your eyes.
The worms craw in, the worms crawl out.
The worms craw in, the worms crawl out.
The worms craw in, the worms crawl out.
The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out.
They'll treat your body like a house.
In your mouth and past your teeth
They'll find your tongue and start to eat.
Don't you ever laugh as a Herse goes by
For you might be the next to die.
At least you know that in the end,
You'll still have a bunch of friends.

Bugs
02:50
|
|||
Stay awhile, we can speak in smiles
And I swear I'll be here waiting.
The bumble bee don't make honey
But its not a creature worth hating.
Can you see the frantic mess
When you look me in the eye.
This grin may be a mask
But it sure as hell ain't no disguise.
I may not be a honey bee
but just give me a chance you'll see
That other kinds of bugs can be just as sweet.
Dragonflies can pollinate, ladybugs are pretty great
Crickets like to stay up late and sing at the stars.
Aphids drink the dew from leaves, butterflies have pretty wings
Mantises will eat the bugs that sting at your feet.
Ants will clean up all your crumbs, worms they never hurt no one.
Spiders like to eat the bugs that buzz in your face.
Buzz in your face.
Buzz in your face.
I may not be a honey bee
But that don't mean that I can't be
Some other sort of crawly thing
That makes something sweet.
I'll stick around a little while
Writing songs that make me smile
And maybe you'll think these words
Taste like honey.
Taste like honey.
Taste like honey.
Stay awhile, we can speak in smiles
And I swear I'll be here waiting.
The bumble bee don't make honey
But its not a creature worth hating.
Can you see the frantic mess
When you look me in the eye.
This grin may be a mask
But it sure as hell ain't no disguise.
I may not be a honey bee
but just give me a chance you'll see
That other kinds of bugs can be just as sweet.
Earwigs eat up rotten leaves, Stick bugs don't want to be seen
Fireflies turn summer nights into Christmas time.
Water-striders dance around, pill bugs just chill underground
Slugs and snails, slimy trials, look just like snot.
Caterpillars feed the birds, cicadas just want to be heard.
Fruit flies let you know when all your produce goes bad.
Produce goes bad.
Produce goes bad.
I may not be a honey bee
But that don't mean that I can't be
Some other sort of crawly thing
That makes something sweet.
I'll stick around a little while
Writing songs that make me smile
And maybe you'll think these words
Taste like honey.
Taste like honey.
Taste like honey.

I try to write the same song every single night
Explaining the whole universe and everything that's right
But none of this makes perfect sense unless you are insane
And live off the conspiracies created in your brain
Yeah there are no conspiracies, its all just in your brain
Everything's so complicated, freaky and unsure
But burying your head in the sand is just so immature
I know its really hard to get out of bed sometimes
But if you don't go and breathe the air, you'll never feel alive
Yeah you need a little sunshine if your ever gonna thrive
Now its not every single day
The beauty in this place takes my breath away
But that doesn't mean that I
Don't want to stick around for the good times
All I know's the world's much nicer when you're not a jerk
Walling yourself off behind some solipsistic smirk
Everyone's unhappy sometimes, its how we were made
If you leave this party early you will wish you would have stayed
If you need a little break you can lay with me in the shade
If you leave this party early you will wish you would have stayed
